Dear Fellow Members
With 2010 having passed us in a blur it’s hard to believe that we’re almost at the end of the first quarter of 2011 as well as the second year of our E-Newsletter. Comments regarding the newsletter have been positively received but it was generally felt, that we needed to “up the ante”. The new look E-Newsletter emanates from us utilizing the services of Justine Lipworth and we trust you find both the content and the layout more appealing. As always, we look to you our members who have articles of interest, news or snippets they wish to share, to please forward these to karen@killarneycc.co.za
Unaware to many a member but not to our golfers, disaster struck in late January when the Council main sewer line which enters our property off River Road collapsed on the second fairway causing
untold damage and disruption. The City Council were quick to respond but unfortunately due to excessive rains, the nature of the work and the machinery required, the entire area became totally unplayable.
We extend our thanks and appreciation to all our members and their guests for their patience and understanding as well as to the City Council, for a job well done.
On membership in 2011, we have seen positive growth in various sections of the club and in particular, golf and squash. With the introduction of our 5 Day Golf Membership category numbers have grown from 89 in 2010 to 142 in 2011. Also of significance is the 5 Day Corporate Package which consists of seven members per package, where in 2010 we had none, we now boast five. The blood line of any club is through it membership and we urge you as members, to maximize the use of our facilities.
A little trivia – Rainfall in January 2010 - 417mm and 2011 – 177, February 2010 - 171mm against 98mm this year which equates to sunnier days with more time for a round of golf, a game of bowls or tennis.
Kind regards
Bruce
