Letter from Gary Bloch, outgoing club President

Dear Killarney Country Club Member

There comes a time when all good things need to come to an end, I was given the opportunity and honour to take over as President of KCC towards the end of 2017.

I have come to this decision as I am comfortable with the current committee and management of KCC. These guys have the best interest of the club at heart.

Through my term KCC management have faced many challenges and will continue to run the club as best as they can, taking into account all facets of the business.

KCC over the last few years has gone through some major changes, all in the pursuit to give our members and guests a better club experience, whilst making sure the club remains financially sustainable for all members to enjoy into the future.

In the past, KCC always waited for the AGM, which happens between April and May each year, to elect or appoint a President. I believe this is too late into the year to allow the new appointee to make changes if required.

In line with our constitution, the role of the president is appointed by the committee. KCC runs a financial year from 1 January to 31 December. It manages budgets and strategies on that basis. I together with the committee believe it only fair for the incoming president to be involved in the budgets and strategy of the coming year he/she will preside over.

At the next committee meeting, which will be held prior to December holidays, the committee will vote/appoint a new president, in line with the constitution. The newly appointed  President will take up the role and functions immediately. I have offered my full support to the incoming president and will always be available should he/she see the need to call on me.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Management and Staff at KCC for the help and support over my years at the helm. I would like to thank the committee for their dedication to KCC and wish them luck bringing this club into the future and finally, I would like to thank you the members for entrusting me with our club to try and better it for years to come.
